As I reported yesterday, the Obama administration snapped into action in their effort to overturn the decision of Judge Katherine Forrest which blocked the indefinite detention provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 (NDAA).
In a disturbing yet not all too surprising move, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals quickly stepped in and gave Obama exactly what he wanted in striking down Judge Forrest’s ruling which the White House claims is “dangerous” and a threat to national security.

Battling cancer is difficult enough without your mortgage lender deciding to foreclose on your home just weeks after saying it was trying to help. Yet that appears to be what’s happening to Cindi Davis, a North Carolina woman diagnosed with terminal breast cancer.
Seagull steals camera, films self flying into sunset. That’s one artsy ass seagull.
The world changed last week, and there was nary a word spoken by Wall Street or by politicians who reveled in their own magnificence as this event took place during the party conventions. A major blow was done on Sept. 6 to the American empire, and to the power of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency. And China, along with Russia, are now aiming to become the controllers of energy, and thus, controllers of a new petro-currency. Lindsey Williams: “The most significant day in the history of the American dollar, since its inception, happened on Thursday, Sept. 6. On that day, something took place that is going to affect your life, your family, your dinner table more than you can possibly imagine.” “On Thursday, Sept. 6…China made the official announcement. China said on that day, our banking system is ready, all of our communication systems are ready, all of the transfer systems are ready, and as of that day, Thursday, Sept. 6, any nation in the world that wishes from this point on, to buy, sell, or trade crude oil, can do using the Chinese currency, not the American dollar.”
The Democratic National Convention went US$15 million over its budget, being forced to borrow money. The miscalculation could hinder President Obama’s re-election bid, as his campaign may have to pick up the bill. Two-thirds of the borrowed money came from Duke Energy Corp., and this chunk of money will need to be repaid next year.
Bloomberg News interviewed several anonymous sources familiar with the convention’s finances in order to understand internal deliberations regarding the budget.Of the US$15 million that the DNC borrowed, US$5 million will have to be repaid immediately and is likely to come directly from Obama’s campaign account. In the final months of the presidential campaign – a crucial time for winning over undecided voters – the debts may impact the Obama’s campaigns ability to spend on advertising and sway Americans.
Under Investigation: Social Media Used by Law Enforcement
Brian Loftus, a commercial fisherman and Oathkeeper, went to a local gun store to purchase a few boxes of ammunition for the range. Later that evening he got a phone call from the State Police. They wanted to talk to him because of his “large purchase amount of ammunition.”
Loftus, told the State Police that he had no criminal record and no reason to be suspected of anything. The police responded by telling him that they “know his record was clean”, because they had already pulled it and checked him out prior to the call.
Twitter, Facebook and other popular sites are 24-hour fire hoses of raw information that need an automated tool for deciding what’s important and what is not. So technology companies are pushing products at law enforcement conferences, in trade publications and through white papers that promise to help police filter the deluge for terrorists, traffickers, pedophiles and rioters.
[…] With just one suspect’s name, they can do more: Draw in his or her followers from Twitter or read Facebook wall posts and status updates of their “friends.” Using the company’s social network analysis tool, police can visualize the connections among these individuals and see what was said among them.
The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) has been leading a valiant effort to reveal the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS’s) Big Brother policies which include spying on Americans’ activity on social networks, especially people who express dissenting opinions.
EPIC is now claiming that the DHS actually lied to Congress during a hearing (read the transcript here) surrounding the DHS’s $11.4 million contract to monitor social networks for activity which is fully protected by free speech.
